Winter has arrived.

The air is getting drier and the wind is getting colder.

Here are my top tips to look after your skin this winter:

Keep it simple. For me - the cold is generally much less motivating than the warmer weather. If you are anything like me, you'll be less likely to stick to a complicated routine.

Exfoliate your skin twice a week. As dry skin builds up quickly in cold weather, exfoliating is the key to keeping dry skin under control. Considering this only extends your shower or bath by seconds, this is a quick and effective way to get the best out of your skincare. Your moisturisers will work their magic much more easily with a fresh canvas and without having to get through a thick barrier of dry skin cells.

Especially now, being a mum - exfoliating freshens me up like nothing else. I recommend choosing an exfoliant with natural exfoliating particles. Seven Islands face exfoliant contains super fine pumice and rice husks to buff away dead skin cells, and clay to draw out impurities. You can't go wrong.

Apply creams and lotions that do not leave your skin feeling oily or greasy. You may want something richer during winter, but also note that just because something is thick, doesn't mean it works. Dry skin does not need extra grease - it needs a balance of hydration, moisture and protection. Quick tip: If you are not in a position to buy a richer moisturiser, apply your favourite one, leave it a few minutes and apply another layer. Or simply apply it more regularly!

Hand care. Keep a small tube of fast absorbing hand cream in your bag so you can pop it on whenever or wherever you need to. Winter air can dry out your hands and lead to small painful cracks in your skin and cuticles very quickly. Quick tip: If you apply hand cream twice a day it can also help your fingernails grow and thrive!

Choose lip balms with natural waxes and oils. Synthetic alternatives can actually dry out your skin further. You'll also ingest a portion of whatever is on your lips so you'll want it to be safe. It's truly a no brainer.

If you do feel like some extra luxury - you can always apply a serum or oil treatment at bedtime. Let those beautiful ingredients soak in and protect your skin from moisture loss while you sleep and then start the next morning with lovely supple skin! My newest addition to the range, healthy glow face oil, has proven to be wildly popular! Yes, it an oil, but it's also light and heavenly.

Overall, a winter skincare routine should be simple and quick. The products used should be made with safe ingredients that feel great on your skin! If you are in need of some all natural winter skincare, you can shop here.

Have a warm and cozy winter!
